MH360 Strategic Consultancy

Advice is more useful when it comes from people who've actually done it.

Behind Mental Health 360 is a team whose experience extends well beyond the charity sector.

We’ve built businesses. We’ve scaled them. We’ve led them through change. We’ve developed and launched new products, created new routes to revenue and taken businesses through to exit.

We’ve done it from inside the business, with responsibility for the people, the numbers, the decisions and the outcome.

Our experience spans B2B and B2C markets, professional and regulated services, commercial growth, product development, business development and organisational change.

Through MH360 Strategic Consultancy, businesses can access that experience.

  • Scale
  • Change
  • Turnaround
  • New products
  • Commercial strategy
  • Exit

Helping People and Organisations Thrive

Who would you want around the table?

Someone who’s built products for mass consumer markets? Someone who’s scaled a business, built a national operation or been through an exit? Perhaps someone from a regulated professional background, a barrister, or somebody who’s spent their career turning ideas into revenue?

The people behind Mental Health 360 had careers before Mental Health 360.

We didn’t forget what we learned when we decided to use our experience to help more people with their mental health.

And we certainly didn’t lose our interest in business.

There is still something enormously satisfying about getting underneath a commercial problem, challenging an idea, spotting an opportunity somebody else hasn’t seen or helping turn something ambitious into something that actually works.

That’s what MH360 Strategic Consultancy gives other businesses access to.

Today, we happen to bring that experience together around Mental Health 360.

But we still love rolling our sleeves up in business.

Scale

We’ve scaled businesses ourselves.

Growth changes a business.

What worked when there were five people doesn’t necessarily work when there are fifty. The systems, management structure, sales operation and processes that got a business to one stage can become the things preventing it reaching the next.

We’ve dealt with those challenges from inside growing businesses.

We can work with owners and leadership teams to understand what is restricting the next stage of growth and help turn ambition into something the organisation can actually deliver.

Change & Turnaround

Sometimes the business needs to change before the numbers force it to.

Markets move. Costs increase. Products age. Competitors change. Teams and structures that once made sense stop working as well as they did.

We’ve led change from inside organisations, where recommendations have consequences and somebody ultimately has to make them work.

That experience can be brought into your business to help decide what needs to change, what should be protected and how to move from the current position to something stronger.

Where appropriate, we can help with the delivery too.

New Products

A good idea isn’t automatically a good business.

We’ve developed products and taken them to market.

That means dealing with the questions that sit between the idea and the revenue.

Who will buy it? What problem does it solve? What should it cost? How will you reach the market? What does the sales process look like? How does it fit alongside the existing business? What needs to happen before launch?

Our experience spans both B2B and B2C propositions.

Commercial Strategy

Sometimes the question is broader.

Where should the business concentrate? Which markets are worth pursuing? Where is margin being lost? Which services have the greatest potential? What should you stop doing? Where could a different route to market change the picture?

We’ve had to answer those questions in businesses where the commercial result mattered to us too.

Strategic consultancy doesn’t need to mean months of analysis before anybody makes a decision.

NED & Board Advisory

Sometimes you don’t need another employee. You need another perspective around the table.

Our team can work with businesses as Non-Executive Directors or independent board advisers, bringing practical commercial experience into the organisation without becoming part of the day-to-day management structure.

That gives owners and senior teams access to somebody close enough to understand the business, but independent enough to challenge assumptions, ask difficult questions and offer another perspective.

It can be an ongoing relationship or something established around a particular period of growth, change or commercial challenge.

Department & Team Audits

Sometimes the whole business isn’t the problem.

A sales team may be underperforming. Business development may lack structure. Marketing spend might not be producing enough. A department may have grown without anybody stopping to ask whether the way it operates still makes commercial sense.

We can independently review a team, department or function to understand how it actually works, where time and money are being spent, what’s performing and what could be improved.

This can include structure, people, processes, systems, management information, costs and commercial performance.

The purpose isn’t to arrive with a predetermined answer.

It’s to understand what’s actually happening.

Coaching, Mentoring & Sounding Board

Running a business can be a surprisingly lonely job.

Some decisions involve information you can’t easily discuss with employees, customers or suppliers.

Sometimes an owner, director or senior leader doesn’t need another consultant or somebody to make the decision for them. They need a confidential, impartial person with relevant experience against whom they can test their thinking.

We can provide that through coaching, mentoring and ongoing sounding-board relationships.

A conversation before the board meeting. A second opinion on an opportunity. A challenge to a plan. Somewhere to work through a difficult decision without internal politics or competing agendas.

Exit

We’ve scaled businesses and we’ve exited them.

That matters because preparing a business for exit looks very different when you’ve experienced the process from the inside.

An exit can be years in the making.

Reducing dependency on individuals, creating repeatable revenue, strengthening management, improving commercial performance and making the business easier for somebody else to understand can all influence what a potential buyer sees.

Sometimes the work required to maximise an eventual exit begins long before anybody talks to a buyer.

We can work with owners who are beginning to consider what comes next, drawing on practical experience of building value, scaling businesses and ultimately exiting them.

Senior experience. A rather different commercial model.

The people behind Mental Health 360 give their time to the charity.

We’re not building individual consultancy practices and extracting as much as possible from every billable hour.

The money our commercial work generates helps Mental Health 360 do what it exists to do: support more people.

That gives us the freedom to approach consultancy differently.

It might be a fixed fee. An agreed project cost. A retained NED or advisory relationship. And where the opportunity makes sense for both sides, we’re not averse to putting some of our fee at risk and working on an agreed success or percentage basis.

If our experience helps create greater commercial value, we’re happy to have a conversation about sharing in the result rather than simply charging for every hour we spend getting there.

And there is a bigger reason we’re prepared to be flexible.

£240

That’s enough to fund a full course of six counselling sessions for one person through Mental Health 360. So every £240 our commercial work generates has a very tangible meaning to us.

If a few hours of our commercial experience can help fund support that could change, and sometimes potentially save, a life, that seems like a pretty reasonable use of our time.

You get the commercial expertise. Mental Health 360 gets the income. More people get the support.

We think that’s a pretty good use of an invoice.

Use us where we're useful.

You might need us around the board table once a month. You might want an independent review of a department. You may need somebody alongside the leadership team during a period of change, help developing a new commercial proposition or an experienced perspective as you prepare for exit.

Or you might simply want a confidential conversation with somebody outside the business who understands the pressures of running one.

We scope the relationship around what would actually be useful.

  • NED
  • Board adviser
  • Consultant
  • Auditor
  • Mentor
  • Coach
  • Sounding board

Bring us the challenge. We'll tell you whether we think we can help.
